Hi guys, I´m Winie from czech republic (small country in central europe). I´m very interested in japanese cars. I have NA miata and Civic EP. In the end of summer 2014 I was bought 1979 B310 wagon by one old man which was a son of first owner of this Datsun. My car was bought by czechoslovak embassy in Libia. First owner use him in Libia (he was some engineer about oil thinks), and he loves his 120Y. After 1989 he bought Datsun, and he and his family traveled across europe in this car. After he come back into czech republic, car was garaged, and owner ride with him only into shop. He passed away in 2007, and his son don´t go with datsun anywhere. Car was in garage for 7 years. After 7 year he need garage for new car, and this was my time. One time i saw advertisement and I bought my first japanese classic car.

My datsun is 120Y wagon, year 1979 in B- condition.
Is there some rust, but engine and gearbox works excelent.
Car has a few excidents - which means damaged tail lights, and some putty at rear fender.

My plans? Remove rust, new suspension, new tail lights and paint renovation, GTi front lip, and some BBS "style" wheels.

There is current status:

Hi Winie, welcome to the club. It is a worthy candidate, and has an interesting life story too. Love the B310!

So guys, good news!
I have licence plates and I got through the first ride! Datsun is very funny car, and other peoples faces are amazing
But, I have problem. Charging doesn´t work. Regulator makes strange noises at idle.
Do you have any experience with the repair of mechanical regulator???

I have only one image for now, and just from cell phone

Looks Nice.
Is It internal or external regulator?
If It's internal just get a new alternator . External get a new regulator

My experience is that regulators making noise need to be replaced. Attempting to fix them has never been successful. If you want to adjust the voltage output, that's easy. Even a no-output regulator may be fixed for example by cleaning the contacts. But no success trying to fix a noisy one.

Still problems with elektroinstallation....
I have a new regulator, but now it looks at a damaged alternator.
Also wiring looks weird.

Anyone have Picture of completely stock A12 engine and wiring around battery and coil?

But first pictures with my friend´s CRX VTEC

CRX is nice looking, but I see those every day. Your B310 is a classic.

See the many photos in our Wiring articles.

here are some

What makes you think the alternator is damaged? It won't output a charge if the wiring or regulator is incorrect.
