Hi, i have the chance to buy these carbs.... seller says they came from an A14 japan import....

Look correct to me based on tech wiki but before i hand over hard earned cash could someone pass comment ?
I plan to put them on my A14, then maybe later swap to an A16....

Price is 560 AUS or 456 usd

They look like a flat top A12GX variant.

yes, looking more closely at the wiki, these have an oval mounting flange (carb to manifold) where the A14T ones have a square flange.

If these are A12GX ones, would they be ok on my A14 and upto A16 ?

Edit... found this link through the wiki, it looks like the same set-up and the guy says theyre for an A15...

Those are not GX which was strictly dome top.

They are A12T and so the manifold is too big for an A14.

The carbs will work on any engine. The manifold is the critical part.

Right as usual DD..if you look at the casting on the manifold flange its the larger oval shape..

is there no way for it to fit ? would it bolt up, and maybe the Cyl head could be ported ?

Not that i want to go to that sort of effort....

Yes, you can "port match" the cylinder head, by grinding the ports out to match the manifold.

The nice thing about those carbs is
* They've been de-smogged
* Still have the idle mixture system, for precision idle adjustment

Ok I'm going to get them. Bit of work to port the H89 head I'll be putting them on to but I hope it will be worth it.
Thanks for your help , BTW how can you tell they're desmogged?

looks good,

looks like you are not using the water cooling ?
Whats the performance like ?
Were the standard needles etc ok or did you have to change them ?
For the air filters, do the equivalent British SU ones fit ?
