Live in Southern California owning '72 1200 A12A for 33 years. Terrific shape. But recently rod bearing broke and rather than rebuild (not enough power on freeways after 70 mph) we want to replace engine with an A14 or 15. Since front struts are no where to be found, and we need them as well, we were thinking of purchasing a B210. We'd remove the struts if they are still good (they are still made), take the engine and trans (would a 4 speed be better for high end performance) and the differential (heard that the 1200 differential can't handle the torque of a 14 or 15. But we don't know what year of 210 has the larger A14 if we went with it as opposed to the 15. Does anyone know what year of the 210 would be best? Thanks for your assistance. Can't locate anyone out here who knows about such a swap.

Sorry to hear about the engine trouble.
All years of 210 came with an A14. It was an optional engine.
210: 1979-1982
Datsun 1200 differential can handle an A14 no problem. It has trouble with the high-power A15 (1979-1980) while some report no problems with the low-power A15 (1981-up).
