Ok a little bit of a boring subject,
but the driver side door of my coupe has some loose hinges. So whenever I open the door, it hangs down about 1 cm lower. It open and closes alright, but seeing as the repainting of my car is getting closer I thought that I might fix this so it doesn't rub th epaint of the bottom of the door jam.

Anyway the question I wanted to know after all that, is:
Can I get the hinges off a sedan or out of a 120Y?
Or are they different and not open to the same point or not fit etc?

Lobster definately sleep this time...

Cornealious (Is this your real name?)

I have the same problem on my car, but it haven't get to one centimeter yet. In the hinges there is a shaft. You may machine (ou get someone to machine) one shaft with a larger diameter. Then you drill the holes in the hinges with the same diameter (almost). You assemble everything and it will be great. Good to last another 30 years.

Yep i've had the same problem b4 too...

I went to an engineers and got mine machined as mentioned for 50$ (NZ) for the two of them...

After scrounging through wreckers every sedan or coupe i cam to...found that those hinges had play in them also so infustration.... just took them to the fitter/turners and they did it.

I'm sure the sedan will fit a coupe though, if you can find some strong ones.

Cheers

Yes it is, my parents hated me!

Nah it actually isn't.
I normalyl use wierd names like that when I join up for clubs so when I get junk mail from them I know it is junk mail because they call me cornealious or rupert or percival or something.
Not that this club does that. I just do it automatically.
Real name is Ian. Although pretty much everyone I know actually calls me "Lobster" for like the last 5 years or so...
On my Pizza Hut name badge I have "Lobsta"
People ask me if it is my real name and I always say yes. And then they normally feel guilty for laughing at it and let me keep the change.
I told one guy it was a Jamaican name and that my grandma who was Jamaican gave it to me before she died.
See, details make the lie believable.

Nissan South Africa can supply a drill and some bushes for the hinges.

Anyone with a lathe could knock up a set for you. It's not normally the shaft that wears.

My friends dad has a lathe I 'll have to wait till the dad goes out of town though because the dad is heaps anal about having his tools used (But he has such great ones! Drop saw's, die grinder, sandblaster lathe, belt sander etc.... he works from home) My friend knocked up a nylon spcaer washer thing to put in the top of my gear stick and it's heaps less sloppy now.
Feels great. Will see if he can fix me up with bushes for these hinges...
