Hey guys just needing a quick hand with an issue i have and many of us have faced.

I have had my Weld racing wheels on my ute for some time and the turning radius scrubs very hard on the lower front of the quarter panels.

I am needing to trim away the area in which scrubs.

My question is what is the best way to do this with the cleanest cut as the car is painted i want to inflict as minimal damage as possible but if worst case i can get the guards repainted im just not wanting to warp them during the process.

My idea is to use 3M masking tape for the area applied appropriately, template out a radius for the cut then use a die grinder to cut the panel and cut and stop slowly as to not put to much heat into the panel. It scares the #OOPS# out of me to do it but it needs to be done, so i can finally engineer and get the car through rego.

Or the other option is take it too a panel beater have them trim the guard and put it onto an english wheel and roll the lips properly and flare them ever so slightly

I just really need another opinion from people that have done it or an actual panel beater from here

Cheers

I would use a grinder with a 1mm cutting disk. Will go through it like a knife though butter. I wouldn't be to worried about the heat but if you are just stop couple of times. Die grinder wont get you as clean of a cut as a grinder.
Like you said mask it off draw your line and throw some sheets over the rest of the car.

Just use a grinder with thin 1mm blade and cut with a steady hand.dont bother stopping will just give a messy cut.you won't make anywhere near enough heat to warp them
