I just bought shocks for a 2000 Nissan. So it seems they still do shocks. Has your Nissan dealer stopped ordering from Nissan Japan?

Here are the 1200 strut inserts. They are for the 1994 Nissan 1200, but fit the 1971 Datsun 1200 even so.

I you cannot find these in your country, you can buy aftermarket strut insert cartridges via mail order.
* Classic Garage
* Bprojects

Some 1200 owners fit VW strut inserts or Toyota TRD inserts.

The VW ones reduce the suspension travel. Not necessarily a problem.
