hi all,
firstly sorry as i know that this will be in the wiki somewhere.. but i have got to dash to work, so wont have a chance to search this..

i got a 71 1200 wags, drums all round.
going to pick up a pair of 120y struts/hub/discs after work, are their other parts that i should grab from the guy while i am there to make swapping my drum front end out?
i.e. lca, balljoints, tierods etc. or will my 1200 stuff bolt straight up??

thanks!

Grab as much as you can best to have spares, you may also need a duel circuit master as well

not long did this conversion on my sedan, old drum struts out and new 120y disc struts back in, used my original springs and strut tops tho, think i read in the wiki that using the 120y springs n strut top may raise your ride height,

was as simple as pulling the old ones out and putting the new struts in, may be wise to rebuild the brakes on the 'new' disc struts, :)

Need to get 11/16ths rear wheel cylinders to balance front. You don't have to swap them, but you'll prematurely wear the rear brake shoes if you don't. Be careful if you want to run 12 inch rims, mags or otherwise, as the 120Y wheels have a larger centre hole in them. Most 13 inch or bigger mags will clear, but some 12 inch mags & the standard 12 inch steelies wont go on.

Did you use late 120Y (1977-1978) parts? The 1974-1975 are the same as B110 aren't they?

thanks for the reply everyone.

grabbed struts this evening... dude didnt want to let any spares go though :(
they came with strut, spring, hub and disc. no caliper though... but for the price i paid, no complaints. no caliper means i may just jump to a s13 conversion when i get around to doing the swap.

thanks for the heads up re: height adjustment / 12's not fitting / rear wheel cylinder.
as to what year they came off, not sure? easy way to check??

thanks again all!

Do the hubs have a 71mm registration like the B110, or do they have a larger one?

If the struts are 73-76, they have the same brakes as the 1200 coupe, the small square brake pads held in by 2 pins & a strange spring wire that goes between 2 holes in the pins. these are Japanese brakes. If it's from a 76-78 model sedan, it's Australian brakes from PBR, also used on early Mistubishis. They have a more conventionally styled pads, but these pads are held in a U shaped casting that goes over the top of the disc & bolts to the caliper. This bolt is an Allen bolt, too. To tell the difference without the caliper on it, there is a spacer that goes between the caliper & the strut on the PBR brakes. I've got a few PBR calipers hanging around if you need them, & probably a couple of the brackets & bolts.
