Dear all,

I have just got my car back from the spray painter (hooray!), looks great, photos up soon.
I have no power though. I got home (1km from painter) then went for another spin.
I had NO power, i got onto the road, second gear then it started spluttering and farting about.
I switched it off, restarted and tried heading home (up a slight hill). STILL NO POWER. I limped home in first gear going about 10-15kmh.
WHATS GOING ON??
There is no power anywhere at any revs. High revs still no power (but it cuts out and splutters before high revs). Low revs (like 1000rpm) I have enough
power to limp home.
Is it a fuel problem, cause it sure seems like it. The dizzy is ok, rotor, points are all fine.
I need to get my car to the pits for rego, so it needs to go!
Any help would be great, i need to get it going over the weekend (unfortunatly working sat & sun)so I can take it to the pits early next week.

Ive had the needle and seat valve in the carb come loose and the same thing happened. The car idles just fine, but when you push the gas
it starts sputtering.
I guess any major fuel blockage would do this. There's just enough gas leaking through to the carb to keep it idling.
Run the engine, when it starts sputtering shut it off, and check to see if your float bowl is full.

Hey, stuff man, what a bummer.
Have you checked all your ignition timing? and is there spark at all your plugs? does your distributor cap have any cracks, as this can
leak spark to earth.
whats the fuel like? if it is old, it will cause it to run real bad.
best of luck anyways

Did the painter put a rag in the air cleaner inlet, to keep the dust out? Has the car been sitting for a long time? If so maybe the fuel has gone bad. Is the tank almost empty?
You may be sucking crap from the bottom. Check the fuel filter. My dad gave me a good bit of advice once, if something doesn't work at all, there's usually a simple solution. Think
Air- fuel- spark.
Good luck, Dave in Calgary, Canada.
