Options for raising a 1200?

I've looked through the technical wiki and there is plenty of info on lowering a 1200. I am building a rally car and am looking for ways to get a little more height out of the car. I come from the Subaru world where I could take Forester suspension bits and put them directly into a WRX and get up to 2" of height. Does anyone know of any easy to swap parts that would give me a little height in the 1200? Thanks

A10 stanza struts will give you extra height, or even swap the stock strut tops with Datsun 120y tops will raise the car an inch or so more

Would the 120y tops work on both the front and rear?

120Y tops won't work on the rear. 120Y strut tops only fit the struts, which are only used on the front of our cars

A10/B310 struts are less than 1" longer than 1200 struts and if you fit 1200 spring to the A10 strut it won't raise the car at all. One way to raise the car is to fit longer springs to the strut, or raise the spring seat

120Y vs 1200 strut tops (30 mm difference)

Raising a 1200 is an interesting idea that has rarely been discussed

about the rear, ossibly one could fit ute springs to a coupe or sedan, which (if they fit) would raise the rear end

The tried and true way would be to move the diff axle housing to underneath the leaf spring, the opposite of normal

here's one example that uses full chassis with body lift

I'm putting this on the back burner until I get new wheels on. I'll be moving from a 12" to a 15" and that might give me the height I need on its own. Thanks for the suggestions guys :)

Just be aware it will make acceleration much slower. On the plus side will increase fuel economy (after adjust the speedometer reading)

On the front, I believe 240z springs fit, those will raise the car BUT the spring rate may be more than you want. Also if you know any of the California Rally Series guys they might have something.

Good idea. 280Z front springs are almost same spring rate, but 4" longer. A slow use of the cut-off saw and they'd work well for raising the front of a 1200, plus making them shorter stiffens them up a bit

Quote:
B110 stock coils
* 13.3" long

S30 1975 280Z 100mm front & 100mm rear
* front GS30: 8.5 coils @ 115 lb/in (16.7" long)
* front S30 : 9.5 coils @ 103 lb/in (16.0" long)
* rear coils: 8.5 coils @ 198 lb/in (15.4" long)

240 Z springs are not surprisingly stiff. That is what I used on my 1200 track car (about 1/2 of each one) to lower it and it wasn't too stiff. Using them full length or close to it would offer pretty good ride quality and more suspension travel. I would think that using a custom lower control arm would be necessary as raising the car too much without a longer lower arm would compromise camber, etc.

The red 1200 body on the Suzuki Samurai chassis is a neat idea but it really isn't a 1200 then.
