Has any one tried this replacement using the120y cross member rather than making up brackets for engine mounts?

it could be done I guess. It's just up to you, do you want to modify engine mount brakets or crossmember mount points?

the 120y crossmember is wider because it bolts up outside the chassis rails, while the 1200 bolts into the chassis rails,so it doesn't fit.what is easiest is to get a late 1200 ute crossmember, which will bolt in,or to make engine brackets like micheal (1200rallycar) has posted in one of the forums.unfortuneately, you can't take the 120y uprights off the crossmember & weld them on,as they go in the wrong direction.as to where to get the late 1200 crossmember, sometimes they appear in wreckers, but don't last too long,or maybe you can still get them new from nisssan.the engine brackets are just 120y or sunny ones,so they are easily sourced.

Thanks for your help, I pulled the origional cross member out to see if the 120y crossmember would work. The answer is no, after I measured the holes and redrilled them I found that the crossmember sits further back and hits the steering arm before the holes line up in the chassis rail. The plus to this if it did fit was the bolt holes for the lower steering arms are slightly further apart which would have given a bit more negitive camber. I might try to locate a ute crossmember and try again while I have everything apart. I'll let you know how it goes.
