I need some pictures of a a14 swap into a 1200. Basically I need pictures of the wires that go to the started and alternator. I've extended the wires to the alternator. Just need to see where everything else goes. Also the a14 I swapped in has electronic ignition.

The starter is exactly the same and in the same location. So the original 1200 wires can be used unmodified

Battery Positive wire goes directly to the starter

Battery Ground wire

Starter just has two wires:
* Big wire: battery '+' terminal
* Small Black/Yellow wire: solenoid small terminal

On automatic cars, the starter 'S' wire (small wire) goes through the "Neutral Switch" (Inhibitor Switch).

Dunno, my 1200 didn't have that. What year and model is your 1200? What color are the three wires?

Mine is a 72. There is the black and yellow wire. Then there is a black wire and a yellow one. How do I know what distributor I have? The engine is from a 78 b210 gx.

1972 North America coupe, manual tranmission?

So there is:
* black and yellow wire
* black wire
* yellow

Trouble is ... no one has ever taken photos of the wiring ...

BY is starter solenoid
B is likely the distributor (points) wire
Y ??? ... YB is oil pressure, and YW is temp sender

1978 HLB210 (A14 lhd B210) came factory with this distributor (remove the cap to confirm yours):

If this is what you have, it needs the ignitor box (shown in the photo at bottom) it's under the dash of the B210. The 1978 box is a high-energy type (excellent performing type)

On the body of the distributor should be the part number. Clean the grease off the side of the body and read the numbers:

Top line: Distributor Model Number (e.g. D4R). This will tell you the kind of EI it is so you can identify the cap & rotor parts. B210 electronic is D4F

Nissan part number: starts with 22100-

Excellent, for wiring see B-210 Electronic Distributor Swap. Use the 1978 coil because it is high energy

Found this photo of an A14/A15 swap and marked it:
Open in new window

R battery positive cable
S (BY wire) starter solenoid
D (B wire)distributor side (points type)
leave unconnected for electronic ignition
YW temp sensor? or YB oil pressure

NOTE: If you draw power off the POS terminal (as in this photo with all the extra wires), make sure they are fused close by, as the POS cable is unfused and therefore has no anti-fire protection (see Fusible Link)
