Just did a quick internet search - Is around AUS$1200 what I should expect to pay for a set of forged A15 pistons?

YES, but ... you can get them cheaper if you shop around. ARIAS forged pistons new $1100 AUD/set pjz forged pistons used set

Id check with different piston manufacturers, some of the most famous are the least expensive. Most make A15 forged pistons on order
A very few are listed here http://datsun1200.com/modules/mediawi ... hp?title=Piston#Suppliers

Ziggy
We had custom Ross pistons made in the US for us and that was about the price.
Not cheap the engine builder got the pistons he wanted.

Just in case you missed my past posts please look up D16
turbo honda threads or forums specifically for this engine.
They use 75mm or 76mm oversize suzuki vitara cast pistons
in honda D16 engines without a hitch for 18+psi and 300+hp.
There are many makers of these but only some are the chosen
ones by honda tuners and available in various comp designs
for the price of cast pistons not forgies.
