yeah I dont understand this. Bidding is up to 1/2 million -- what is that $5000? For a slightly rusty sedan. Maybe it's the old adage tell every flaw about your car (100 of photos) and the price goes up

The things that make this nice
* A14 factory fuel injection EGI
* Super GX (SGX) trim with full gauge package
* Look unmodified/unmolested, all original including wheels, air cleaner etc all genuine

Its not a bad car for an enthusiast but the rusty coupes are fetching crazy numbers.
This boxy body is more popular and desirable than the 1200 body as I read on a jp
magazine that had a survey over the years. My wife also agrees its not the best
looking sunny but its racing heritage seemed to show more success in the early
80s than the 1200 which is hard to understand as it was heavier and boxier.

Maybe everything was heavier and slower in the 80s and also maybe considering
Japanese people are so square they prefer square things

Winner!

Never seen bumpers like that before. And where is Kanagawa? Perhaps the tie-down hooks are for the ship voyage from Yokohama to Kanagawa ....

I still wonder why the first models and Peruvian models
of the Stanza and Sunny had full chrome steel bumpers?
I had a Stanza coupe with chrome bumpers in Australia
and also saw some peeps put them on later SSS sedans
but a shame not more of these boxy tissue datsun bodies
didnt use the classier bumpers.

Wonder no longer. The reason is because Datsun wanted to sell some low-price Stanza and Sunny, so a simple bumper it was. In 1978 plain chrome was considered old-fashioned so they sold a lot of "upscale" version with rubber capped bumpers, especially in affluent places like Europe and Japan. The main difference between early B310 and late B310 bumpers was that they added more and more rubber

Now we recognize the timeless classic that chrome bumpers are

Japan used the all-chrome bumper on early (round headlight) and late (square headlight) B310. And all Van wagons had them

H85 all-metal bumper - used on Sedan CT, Sedan City DX, Sedan DX

Used on Coupe DX, Coupe ES, and Coupe Sport

Of course GX models -- like the SGX of this discussion -- couldn't use such plain bumpers. They had to be fancied up

they look so much sweeter with the chrome bumpers
but I still wonder why Peru didnt got the cheaper
folded steel and rubber end. Peruvians usually poor
