My Lucas alternator I have decided to strip and service. I am however concerned about the difficulty of finding service parts for this very old model alternator. Is there anyone who did a more modern alternator upgrade on early model A12 engines with the alternator sitting down below under the block's water pipe?

Yes, I dunno if South Africa used these, but
* direct bolt-in for early B110 - even the belt works
* 1990s alternator
* internal regulator
* Mitsubishi A1T

I did some reading. It seems that the A14 alternator which sits at the top left next to the distributor will actually work if used on a A12 which bolts down below. I will see if I can find one and do trial fit. If not, I can just return it. I think there will be here at local scrapyards
