Long-time lurker and thought some would appreciate seeing another 1200 coupe coming back to life.

I have owned the car for 25 odd years and it last saw rego/club racing in the late 90's. Good news it has been garaged and body isn't too bad beside few smaller rust areas. Paint is passable from 10 feet and will do for now.

Was a great performing little car back in the day running various hot a14/15 5sp weber combo's and well sorted suspension. I regretfully sold the drive train and went CA16 w/early autronic etc. Became problematic and car was never the same & eventually parked.

Goal is to get her registered as phase 1 and build into a decent rego’d club car after that. Am almost done with rust repairs (sill, guard, spare wheel well) and have a stock A12/4sp in her now until new engine is ready. Suspension, rubbers, lines, brakes and pretty much everything else has already been refreshed underneath.

Second phase will focus on HP – I own a special engine some of you may know that Steve Newing ran in his 1200. Was a fire breathing car/driver combo back in the day and held lap records all over the place. I bought this drive train a few years back when it was removed from his old race car in QLD. looks to be pretty much as it was and even had the nismo hp oil pump in the spares crate!

Will share major updates as they happen & great to see folks keeping the 1200’s alive. i'm not a mechanic but love this car.

Snug alright but still has a few cm clearance - pic from the source car. Will look at air filter options when ready.

My temporary A12 costing me more $$ - installed fresh shortened tail shaft yesterday & sorted reverse lights, speedo & new rear cross member while underneath. Race engine came with T50 & 2 piece shaft. My car had hangers removed making it a pita.

Brought ecu and loom home to work on this week. Undecided which way I will go but can work on labeling etc. Engine was running with a Wolf V4 and I still have an old autronic. Be super if I can use one of the two and save some $.

Car is at my fathers and trying to get 1 play day in per weekend. Lots of jobs left but we're getting there.
