No Headlights!

The Datsun disgraced itself last Saturday night when leaving a friends home- went to turn on the headlights and had nothing. Park lights and taillights both work. We ended up disconnecting the headlight switch which I thought may be the problem and making a mini loom which got it home- so the headlights are working but something is stopping them working when the dashboard switch is connected.
I replaced the switch with a spare that I had and still the same problem.
While I cannot guarantee the health of both switches it seems rather odd that there is the same problem with them both?
Anyone come across this before or any bright ideas. The lighting system is completely stock and unaltered.

I have had an instance where the wires going to the switch were actually cracked further up the loom and the process of pulling the loom to meet the switch broke the connection and pushing the wires back fixes it ..... intermittently.
Check the individual wire resistance

If I remember correctly I had an issue with my headlights not working when I bought my 1200, I think I pulled the switch apart and cleaned up the contacts and regreased them. All good after that.

I had this issue with my ute. It did my head in for a few weeks. It ended up being the head light lamp fuse retainer had a heap of build up on it which was causing a bad connection.

Worth checking out if you haven't solved your problem
