has anyone installed led lights on the 1200 datto?i am interested in doing this but are wondering how they would mount up.Can i use the original braketry for the oem lights?

I’ve been thinking about it, but also a bit worried about fitting them into the original headlight buckets.
There are a lot of different LED headlights on the market now and I’m sure the quality varies as does the pricing.
I know member mrbarista has some fitted to his Ute. I also know you can buy fitting rings for the 7” lights quite cheaply if you search under Jeep LED headlights. The rings are plastic and I reckon you could get them to work (maybe with some minor mods).

For LED headlights, they bolt right in place using the Datsun factory 7" headlight rims (same as Jeep).

For off-road driving lights, who knows

H4 lenses with replaceable LED bulbs



Since LED uses less power than incandescent originals, the stock wiring works fine

Those particular ones are the old generic "crystal" lenses, don't know if they still make em

Any H4 lens will do, including regular glass type. However the newer 9003 type lens will take either H4 or HB4/9003 bulbs, so that's what I'd get now search: 7" lens housing brands include Hella, EMPI, Narva, etc and can be bought on Amazon, eBay and your local auto or offroad performance shop

9003 bulbs are available in LED or Halogen. For example Philips Ultinon LED bulbs are $200 USD/pair, while cheap eBay specials are as low as $12/pair. The Ultinons are highly rated for longevity, brightness and patten/coverage. On the other hand with cheap units YMMV

Alo beware that HB4/9003 bulbs won't fit a genuine H4 lens. You can still buy actual H4 bulbs but here in USA the 9003(HB4) bulbs are much more common

You'll see "kits" advertised but only need the lenses & bulbs. Plugs right into the 1200 wiring harness, no kit needed. No relay needed. No CAN-BUS adapter needed :-}

I like the idea of replaceable bulb lenses, because bulbs eventually fail (especially cheap LED bulbs - when they fail just buy another cheapo bulb or junkyard bulb)

Also you can buy lenses that have the RHD or LHD beam patterns

Those Truck-lites are good for countries where vehicles drive on the right. Although you could rotate the bulb by about 10 degrees by modding the headlight rings

In Europe where different countries vary, you can buy adapters to change the beam pattern when crossing a border. such as inexpensive stick-on masks (pattern adjusters/beam deflectors). This reduces the amount of beam light crossing the center line of the road
