Experimental Safety Vehicle, in response to the US DOT initiative (1970), Nissan, Toyota and others created ESVs

Nissan showed this "EV 1" at the 1973 Tokyo Motor Show alongside the Nissan Rotary Sunny. Here's an internal Nissan brochure about the car

* crash-safety crumple zones
* shock absorbing bumpers
* crash-tested at 80km/h
* SRS
* roof-top periscope

Tri-fold brochure: one sheet of paper, 3 panels each side (i.e. six pages after folding)
