Hey all, sorry to post whore lately. From reading in the wiki, the 1200 ute diff is longer then a 1000 diff by 66mm. 1st, are 1000 ute diffs the same length as 1000 sedans etc? Can this 66mm be compensated by wheel offset alone? So need to pull wheels in by 33mm each side

Sure it's possible. I believe they are the same width B10 vs B20, but you could use fender flares

Or you could use the axle assembly from a 1966-1967 Datsun 411, it is same width as B10
* H165 for J13 engine cars
* H190 for R16 engine cars

A 411 diff might be a bit hard around here. Were the splines the same as what's on the 1200 Ute's and bluebirds? I had a feeling there was something different about them? Awesome to know they are same lengths but

So does anyone know what the 411 total length is?

That would be proablby be the width of the axle housing with no axles installed. Can you measure your housing? Because different people measure differently. Here is the documented Diff Widths for the B10:
* 1239 mm wide
* Leaf mount plates 910mm centre to centre, each plate 65mm wide
* 1120 mm banjo housing (with no axles)

This is the same width as the H165 in the Datsun 1500 Roadster. The 1600 Roadster is even narrower

This is the same splines as the 1980s Datsun 1200 ute H165 and also the 1960s Datsun Roadster H165

Thus the center section (diff head) should easily interchange which is nice if you want to change ratios. However, if you try to change only the CRP (ring & pinion) or LSD unit, be aware there are three different H165 variations: Early (H165 pre-1973), H165B Type I (1973-1979) and H165B Type II (from July 1979)

And also aware, 411 with R16 engine had the larger H190 diff

A 411 is a Bluebird, it's the 411 Bluebird. You might be thinking of the 910 Bluebird from the 1980s?

I just wasn't sure of the splines were the same from 411 bluebird to 910 bluebird. Someone has told me the 411 diff is the same length as the 1000 but I'd like to confirm this with my own eye :)

Would be good if the e15et engine fits and having a h165 as I think it would be suitable and a budget conversion. I picked up a e15et motor for $150, 2nd hand aftermarket computers are pretty cheap these days which takes care of the dizzy in the firewall issue and if I can fit the td04 turbo by using the stick e15et manifold with just a simple adapter (t25 flange, 2 inch 90 degree steampipe fitting on to td04 flange) then it might work out to a very cheap source of power upgrade. N12 turbo stuff are almost throwaways these days and so are stock td04's
