g'day

im putting in my newly aquired gemini radiator

any suggestions on hoses that will fit?

it looks as though i need to cut the mounting edge on the passenger side and move the radiator over that way to get the bottom hose around the alternator

doing this means there is a sharp turn to get the top hose to work

just after mounting suggestions or recommend hoses to use off what car

cheers,
Michael

p.s. im also wondering if any gemini's had a shroud or if any one has found a shroud off something that might work? or do you all use thermo fans when using a gemini radiator?, and do you guys cut the front of the car to mount the radiator and allow more airflow?

Oh man..Not Gemini parts!! anything else please!

I understand though, that Australian's are stupid people, and we've supported the Gemini much more than the Datsuns. Especially in the spares availabilty. I can't believe the parts you can still get for the gemini.

If I was you, I'd try and make the radiator fit neatly. If that means cutting out the radiator opening, and inserting some metal to fill in the gaps, then you should do it. But maybe you should find the toughest and most readily available radiator unit before chopping up your front panel.

Chris

im not allowed to chop the front for rally!!!

i was just wondering if thats what everyone else did cause it would mount really flush and easy and you would get serious amounts of air flow if you could, IM JEALOUS

I got a gemini radiator.
I have the alternator up the top though, so I had no probs with the hose hitting it.
All I did was use square bits of pipe as spacersand drilled four holes in the front of the car. then put bolts (with washers) through the hole and then through the square pipe spacers and then through the radiator bracket.
Top hose fit easy, bottom hose had to be persuaded a little. I was gonna get another one eventually but I am lazy. Had the same hoses for about 5 years now.
Umm yeah, it looks pretty dodgey, but it works. Be careful about how close you mount it to the fan. My engine wasn't bolted in tightly enough and it moved foreward into the radiator a few times under braking. All fixed now though.
Umm yeah. Hope that kinda helps.
I can take some pictures if you need them...
Oh yeah, if you want a bigger gemini radiator then get one off a gemini that had A/C. Those ones are bigger...

I got a cut down VL radiator, it takes up most of the front but I got it for $50 from the radiator people, the I only had to change one hose, keeps the motor REAL cool. To mount it I just had to drill 2 hols on the bottom as it had spikes opn the bottom then I just used L shaped mounting brackets.
Cheers
Damo

PS Pics of my car will be up when I get a new paint job and rust cut out.

I had a 3 row high performance core fitted to my standard tanks when i had the A series in my coupe it never got hot even in burnout competitions 7000+rpm for a few minutes. Just looked like a standard radiator just fatter i found the standard engine fan was good too it made a bit more power with just a thermo fan but didnt keep as cool.
cheers Andrew
