Does anyone know if we can eliminate the chain drive and put in a gear drive in an a-sereis?? I got this mini mag and the bastards have all kinds of goodies I wish we had.
Gear drives, high power lightweight starters and alternators, twin cam 6 speeds on and on and on blah blah I hate mini a-series!! LOL

I've looked at this a couple of times. It could be done but the engineering involved to achieve it put me off.

I'm not sure it would be worth it in the long run

What advantage would there be in eliminating the chain and going with direct gear drive? The A-series chain is so short it doesn't give any problems.

The cahin setup is short but the mini A is shorter and V8s have it so you can say its just envy. However in the mini catalogue it says it saves 350 grams compared to chain and gives more accuracy to the cam.It might be that much better a high rpm and imagine the noise itll make, mad max on full boost.

My mate Daniel who is obsessed with A-series motors, is currently machining a gilmer drive setup to include a six cylinder toyota supercharger (clutchless). I'll let you know how he goes.
