gx head camshaft?
Guest_
okay with all the talk on gx heads i have a question.... is the cam from a gx head any different to a stock a12 cam (im guessing there is) and if so, can you swap them without having to do the double valve sprins etc?
Will it be as cost effective as buying a performance cam for $100?
Is there any advantage in changing them performance wise?
I ask this cause my old a12a when it let go mashed the inside of the chambers and bent to pushrods... irrepairable but i still have the cam, and whats left of the head.

The GX cam was mild. Get a cam ground to suit your requirements. Cam profiles have changed a lot in 30 years...

well its free so well see first i guess. All i rember is taht the old motor pulled a whole lot more than this one, displacement and carb can only be part of it. The cam must be angrier than the stock a12 cam.
I just got a free a12 off a guy on ozdat last week, so im planning to build that into a meaner motor within the next 12months. I decided not to sell the ute, well the mrs did cause toyotas arent as reliable as a datto.
Just have to decide turbo set up like i dreamed, or angry angry atmo... i like the thought of snap throttle response though.
