i know this is probably a stupid question but i could not find an answer anywhere else on the site

is a CA18DET from a 1985 Exa (fwd) suitable for a CA18DET Conversion in a 1200 sedan? dose the FWD make any difference? is there already an article or thread i can look at?

id rather ask a stupid question than spend a grand and find that there's problems with the conversion.

has anyone used one of these in a conversion? id also like to know if the brakes can be modifyed to fit a 1200.

I know of 4 models of CA18DET.
1 FWD N13 EXA
1 FWD U12 Bluebird
1 4WD U12 Bluebird
1 S13 Silvia/180sx

The best and most powerful (130kW) one comes from the S13 Silvias. They were intercooled from the factory and have a forward facing intake plenum. You can use the the FWD/4WD versions, but I wouldn't bother. Some of these have a distributor, so they should be avoided for that reason alone.

As for the brakes question, read the old posts. look for "brakes". This topic has been discussed to death.
