does anyone know of any decent engine that'd fit in a 1985 toyota corolla? any old supra or MR2 engines or anything?

If you are sick enough to want to modify one of these things, stick to the 4AG style engines. They are the Toyota 4 cylinder equivalent of the SR20.

The problem with FWD cars is that they are horrible to drive. They are designed for A to B only. But hey, spending money is what makes the world go round..so go for it.

the 16 valve 4age is aparently the best way to go, its only slightly less power than the s/c standard, but apparently it has a lot of potential

i have heard the 20 valve is hard to work and you can actually get better purformance out of the 16 valve

my bro-in-law just got a sprinter and is planning this conversion, ive heard heaps about it, he keeps telling me bout the struts and brakes his using and eveything but i dont thimk that will aplly to your corolla

I would also suggest a 4agze, you could get the complete front cut for about 1500 dollars. Although a later model AE101 is ok if you got a AE92 one you could use the brakes shocks gearbox etc from the front cut. You will find that you need a converter for the tacho as they only read 1/2 revs. Be sure you get a coil pack one and not a dizzie one. On 14psi that should get you a mid 14 as you get nevo pulley upgrade kits. I would suggest the following sites.
www.toymods.org.au
www.twincam16.com
