on tuesday im going to take ownership of a 1000 coupe and i was wondering if it is feasible to fit a CA 18 DET into it. its been a dream of mine eversince i spotted the car. i can get a GOOD motor for 1000 dollar but its not worth it if it will be more trouble than its worth... cheers guys, dave

Do it Dave
The 1000 coupe is my personal favourite. I have 2 of them at the moment.
I have just picked up a Z18ET for mine and I would imagine the CA would be reasonably straighforward to fit. Might need a few sump mods and some tasty engine mounts.New diff to cope with the power too.
Dont forget the brake upgrade while your at it.
Suspension might be marginal depending on the condition of the car due to the leaf front suspension however this can be improved alittle with resetting the spring and fitting some gas shocks.

Personally I'd go for it. You'll have so much fun with it abit of puss and pain will be very worth it.

Cheers
Neil

leaf front suspension with upper and lower A-arms = good. That's what the 406 HP Corvette uses. Much better than McPherson Strut. Although depending on exactly how designed and whether passage of time has weakend the springs ... I would think the problem with the 1000 is the rigidity of the chassis but a monte carlo bar should help there.

cheers guys u have convinced me!!!!

i have a set of disc brakes to go on the fron and was planning on getting a decent set of shocks and re setting the spring whilst the engine is being mounted. also i believe a FAT anti roll bar will help the front end a fair bit. will let u all know how it goes eh??

Cheers Dave.
