Does anyone know with of the A12 Engines have lighter crank, rods etc. I know some models do but am unsure which ones and how to tell without stripping the engine. Is it possible to tell from the engine number.

Does anyone know of a 13" steel wheel which has the same stud pattern and off set as a 78 -82 Nissan Sunny but which are lighter than the oringal.

Kerry, I think no one knows the answer to your questions. I was not even aware that some A12 cranks and rods are lighter than others.

I have pulled apart a few engines and have found them all to be different. Some have steel cranks, some have cast. Some rods are lighter etc.

What was discussed here before is that the 1971-1973 A12 engine has forged crank. A15s have cast crank.

Possibly the newer A12s (which were never seen in the USA) have cast cranks.

Forged ones are lighter, aren't they?
