We use the Redline twin Weber manifold on an A14 head. The manifold is designed for the GX, so we had to drill and tap two holes. So far so good except the local dealer has trouble understanding what the difference in the gaskets is, and keeps supplying the A14 gasket whenever we ask for the GX.
We now have a drilling jig to convert the A14 to a GX gasket and it works grouse.
If anyone else needs to convert their gaskets it is available to all.
If you need to use it, bring beer.

Hi agent 89, do you work for an engineer shop or something? cos you've got more jigs and templates than my old man has made.

how easy is it to get a GX head over east i have called a few of the nissan/datsun wreckers and jap wreckers and none of them have them or have seen any in the last 6 years one woman didn't even know there was a GX part of the datsun line up.. any way i would like one for my A14.
how hard is it to get one and how much do they cost. and is it much of a difference on the engine.

and also how much would it be to get you to do me a gasket if i actually got a gx head?

Hey Stew,

I believe A14/A15/GX inlet manifolds are all the same bolt pattern.

It is A12 that has the 2 bolts.

B120dat used my manifold off my A15 and i THINK he has a GX head.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

ps...got your PM, let me know when the flanges are done

Hey 89mm how did you get the A14 gasket to fit on the GX head properlly?? Thats what you did wasn't it, wanted a gasket for a GX head??? As the GX heads have water jackets under the inlet ports, where the A14 gasket and such done have that and the gaskets for them don't have the support under the water jackets??

Cheers
Damo

PS I hope I got your story straight

Because the car (a home built Clubman) is only used on the track, the water slots have been filled with epoxy, so they are not a problem. Also, the Redline manifold is not jacketed. To clear something else up, it is the manifold that is for the GX head---when you want to use it on an A14 head, you have to use the two holes in the manifold between ports 1 & 2 and 3 & 4 which don't exist on the A14 head, therefore they have to be drilled and tapped. I also have a drilling jig for this.

I've been fiddling with Dattos for a long while. I have the following----the above jigs and another for drilling timing sprockets for modified cams, a pattern and corebox to cast an L series manifold to suit twin 1 3/4 in. SUs and a template to make inlet flanges for A14 heads as well as a few bits and pieces for L series. I am about to make a template for the exhaust flange (A Series). The next project is a pattern and corebox for a twin 1 1/2 in. SU manifold to suit A12 heads. I have a very old lathe (well its older than I am) and a tired vertical drill. With a little ingenuity its amazing what can be done. All this enables me to go racing with my son and retire to the workshop with its fridge.
If anyone is interested, I will get these parts made at the lowest cost that I can find.

Reply for Tim.
I don't think so (but willing to be informed!)
The GX manifold I have seen has the same bolt pattern as the A10/12, that is only 2 bolts on the upper part, where the A14/15 has 4. Hence the problem.

Reply For TeamDat.
Stick with the A14 head, I reckon its just as good as the GX.
If I can get someone to scan it, I'll put a sketch of the jig out. Anyone capable of careful measurement and drilling can make it.
