Hey DVLDAT,if your gonna drive it hard you`d want it to be reliable.
My diff shouldn`t be too far off (I Hope!),
check the subaru-lsd thread out, might give you another idea ?

what diff does it have in it?

if it has borg warner dont bother, if h145 the h165 from the ute should go straight in, the only thing would be the tailshaft, that could be a problem

the ute diff SHOULD bolt in,as i been told by someone who was usually right that they are the same track width 1200 to 120y.as insurance, measure the diff housings from the locating holes on the spring perches,to see if theyare the same distance left to right.being a coupe, you should be able to use the bottom plates off the 120y,but you might have to get larger u bolts.if you find you need the larger u bolts, try for a c20 van at the wreckers,as these have h165 diffs in them too.

if u have the tailshaft to suit the h165 from a ute it should work pressuming the 1200 and 120y are the same legth as far as drivetrain is concerned, but if you dont u will need to get one made or try to find one (good luck!)

the prob is the h165 has a diffrent bolt pattern for the tailshaft and the nose is longer requiring a shorter tail shaft

this is just a suggestion,it probably won't work,(that should cover me for legal repercussions),but someone said that a b310 sunny & a a10 stanza were the same cars under a different body.when i put a h165 diff into a sunny,it used a b120 ute tailshaft .so my thinking is a stanza tailshaft MIGHT be the right length.all you'd have to do was change the front yoke to a larger uni 120y shaft.some 1200s had the same uni's as toranas, kingswoods, etc,& were replaceable.later japanese were peened in so they weren't rebuildable.if you want to try this, get the front yoke from an australian made 120y.also,you could just get a 200b tailshaft, get it shortened, then install the front yoke on that.hope i've helped with some ideas.btw when you got the ute diff, did you get the tailshaft.if you did, that should fit.

you could just fit the 120Y sedan diff and tailshaft. They're heaps stronger BorgWarner units.
