I have been helping with a VG20 into 1200 ute it fitted suprisingly well. I honestly think it will be pretty slow. quite a heavy engine with not much power.
A Vg30 quad cam turbo would be the go :) A frieind just has one running in his LH torana sick of spendiong a fortune on the old holden V8 and being thirsty grumpy and unreliable. Bolted the VG in its making more power sounds sweet and revs like a bitch :)

3TGTEU Would be a hard fit into the 1200.

And the 3TGTEU isnt a 6cyl.

If your really searious look into a KLZE from a Mazda 626 and Mx6 1992 - 1997 Jspec engine.
200hp stock the only thing is they are mounted FWD for the 626 and Mx6 though shouldnt be too hard to swap too rwd.
