morning all
i have located a set of extractors, just waiting to get paid.
I have found the source of my leak, it seems the exhaust manifold has some sort of weighted butterfly valve. Unfortunately the hole in which this valve arm goes through has flogged out and makes quite a pfft pfft noise.....really quite annoying when cold.
my question....can this be simply plugged up or ripped out??
thanx for any advice
chuck.....sunny, std with dukes of hazard, general lee mags....

Yes..you can rip it out. The flap is there to improve emissions when the car is cold.
But you might be better off to replace the shaft's bushing with a custom made bearing.

Or remove the solenoid arm from the flap actuator arm, and apply muffler putty in/around the hole. Depends how much you care about the greenhouse effect, or whether you want to spend 10 bucks on muffler putty (available from K-mart).
