not sure on NSW RTA rules, but all rally cars must be legally road registered, so it must be possible.

Here's an anecdote that's almost certainly inaccurate.

I was waiting for the nightride bus at 4am last Saturday night in Sydney city (trains stop working at 2am), and an drunk old bloke at the bus stop was talking with a transit officer about about the legality of rollcages in cars. He was prompted into this conversation by the hotted up hondas/WRXs etc that cruise in the city on Saturday nights.. He was saying "Aww..these rollcages are illegal, these cars shouldn't be on the road..yada yada.."

So the "old bloke" at the bus stop thinks they are illegal.

I know this doesn't help, just thought I'd pass on the story.

called the rta, if ya all wanna know bout them, roll cages can easily be legal in NSW provided they dont hamper visibility etc. has to be designed by an engineer, theyre basically the ones who decide it for you not the rta.
