Hey guys, with a blown head gasket and oil in the radiator, does it mean my block is cracked? is it often that the block gets cracked as well with a blown head gasket?

The 2 aren't usually linked the oil gets out of it's galleries which run through the head and through into the block, it gets out of there and into the water gallery. I think the best sign for a cracked block is oil coming out, but then again I've never delt with a cracked block before, the A series blocks are pretty strong

9 times out of ten the block should be fine. It depends on the situation leading up to the blown head gasket.

Its usually the head gasket itself - or the head.

Make sure while repairs are getting carried out that you have the head cracktested, radiator and cooling system flushed extensively and while everything goes back together its should all be EXTREMELY CLEAN - No excuses
Also an oil change goes without saying.

The a12's do have fairly robust blocks so thats what i figured i just wanst 100% sure. The thing is u dont really know until u take the head off, what a pain in the arse it could end up costing me $400 plus!!

i think i need to shop around i got quoted at around $600 depending on the damage i hope its not too bad!!

If u take the spark plugs out how does the engine turn over? I read on a thread on another site that checking to see whether the engine has seized can be done this way???! maybe u turn the thing over by hand? how do u do this?

a12's are cheap as chips, better off getting another a12, if urs is dead

As for the head crack testing etc..
Don't waste your money, buy a head gasket ..fit it in under 20 minutes. While you are replacing it, look for cracks in the head/block, if you can't see any, put water in..see if it's fixed..It'll cost you $20-$50 for the gasket.

If that doesn't work, buy another engine for $300.

Any tests are simply "not worth the effort" on a stock engine. Unless you want to keep the engine number the same for resale.

Thats a good idea, but how do u flush the oil out of the radiator and water channels? that is necessary isnt it? i guess it would be simpler doing it myself, but i need to know what else to do in order to replace it properly, any hints and tips guys?

use Tectaloy "mukowt" it's a radiator flush liquid it works wonders. car can have brown water and 2 flshes later clear. that's what i would do.

It's almost always the headgasket blown around the rear of the head to the waterways.
Pull the head off (the one on the Datto ) pay $50 to get it skimmed and shout it a new headgasket...

All done in a couple of hours.
