Has anyone swapped either the struts, brakes, or both from an R31 into a 1200? I just picked up a complete set for free and test fitted them in a 13 inch wheel and looks like I'd only have to trim the backing plate for them to work. If someone's done it which steering arm and which tie rods were used?

Hey, I don't know about R31 struts/brakes, but from my research you can use HR30 or S130Z struts on B310 SGX Sunny lower steering arms (where the strut mounts to). If you can't find any junkyard B310 Sunny steering/suspension parts then http://www.pitroad-ts.com sells them for 24,000 Yen for the pair. These steering arms allow the use of B310, S130Z, and HR30 struts. Basically the holes are drilled further apart to allow for Nissan's 50.8mm diameter struts. Measure out your R31 struts and check out the Pitroad website and compare the measurements they have to see if it'll work! If you want to order the steering arms from Pitroad, Matsuoka can do it for you...that is, if Matsuoka doesn't have that part. I don't know if they do or not, but you can ask. Matsuoka is going to be helping me out with my strut/brake conversion to shortened S-130Z (280ZX) units.

BTW I just got back from there. I got an estimate for doing the body and paint on my coupe. It's going to be a medium silver with black metallic racing stripes right down the center from front to back....kinda like the old Shelby/Mustang style. They're gonna bond on fender flares, get rid of all the rust, dents, and bent up panels and paint the ENTIRE car inside and out. But first I have to save money and do the SR20 swap!!! Good luck on your suspension!

R31, S130 and HR30 are very similar in design so I'll have to start measuring. Maybe I'll just go Matsuoka coilovers using those struts as a base so I can use the bigger brakes. I'll call 'em after I get it running. Thanks for the help AFR
