The legalities of spacers are in a grey area.
I heard that as long as they are fixed to the axel or wheel.
(Screws, welded) then it is ok.
Because of the grey area. Alot of places don't sell them anymore.
If you want longer studs with the same thread then get some 240K type ones. (Check that out at the parts shop that you go to). If you want to go longer than that then you will have to change thread type unfortunately...

yer lobster is right, the ppl at bob jane told me they sell em, knowing thta they are illegal but as long as they are bolted either to the hubs or to the wheels they are considered legal, and for the simple job of doing this im sure its better than getting defected for.

The wheel track can be legally increased by not more than 2" or 50mm as far as i know.
You can do this with spacers, or you can do it with wheels. I recomend using the right spec wheels instead of trying to save a botched job with spacers.

The people at Bob Jane are not selling illegal spacers. If these spacers are used in an illegal way, on a registered car, then the person fitting them is comitting an offence. If they are used on an unregistered car, no offence is being comitted.
The onus is on the purchaser to use them in a lawfull way.

I've seen ARP bolts that were 2.5" long, then just get yourself a spacer for each wheel and then your talking
Cheers

Hello.
I am replying to this thread again, purely so that it will bump and people will see my new avatar.

Oh yeah as I said, the spacers thing is a grey area. Hence why some people will say yes and others no.
I'd talk to the proper authorities in your state about it. (RTA, engineer, etc)

Yeah I agree with the grey area but a cop ain't gonna pull you over and look under your wheels to see if you have spacers, they are too lazy, except maybe the shakers, but if you get into an accident then your in trouble. But don't get into an accident and your right. Its up to you cux you can get ride of spacers easy even if you get defected for it then when they remove the defect sticker you just put em back on.
It's like any mod you do can potentially be illegal, most cops don;t have a clue to small mods like this. But I'm just going off what I've seen it could be different round your way

Cheers
Damo

I should have mentioned its for track work only. I did have another coupe which had spacers and they deemed legal. Ok heres the senario...I have a ute diff and with the current race wheels, they fit snugly within the std lipped rear guard. What I want is to keep the ute diff and increase the track (inproves handling) to around 50-60mm each side so about 120 extra track in total on the back. This will fit within the legality of 50mm guards for IPRA.

So what 13" diameter wheel with what offset should I go for???
