Hi guys on Wednesday I was going to start "The Big Swap", - converting my march 1977 120Y Auto 4 door sedan, to a Manual. I had everyything, the Manual pedal box was in the car (the kickdown switch was relagated from it's usual position on the pedalbox to being (temporarily) ducktaped to the T Bar I got dad to get the spiggot bush out of the back of the spare A12 I have, I have the flywheel, gearbox - I think it's a F4W60A - it definitely has the 6 0 cast in the side of the gearbox...

that was until someone lifted the tail shaft

so I was wondering if an auto tailshaft can be used with a 60 series manual and if not how many (rear) yoke sizes are there on 120Y's?

I'm not 100% sure but I think that H150 eqipped 120Y's may be different?? can anyone shed any light on this?

2 types, 1 is the H150 rear end the other bolts to the Borg warner rear, just depends on what diff you have, Borg warner came out on the sedans and some of the wagons, and the H150 came out on the coupe and wagon. hope this helps. the Borg Warner housing unbolts from the back of the diff housing. it's a plate whereas the H150 is a hat removed from the front. easy to see the difference.

It's a March '77 120Y 4 door sedan - it has the Borgwarner Diff!

I have a H150 in a 1974 4 door 120Y shell (jap) it has - it looks like it'd last 5 minutes I have a spare BW diff!

I thought the auto and manual yokes were different lengths???

auto tailsharfts have the same spline at the front as an L series car and they won't fit a manual A series box. I think all the tailsharfts were the same length from 1000 through to at least 180B. They changed the length of the yolk on the front of the diff. You may be able to make something work by swapping the yolk etc of the spare car, I'm not sure but I think most of the diffs had the same spline in the yolks.
