Give ya self a upper cut Mike ....had all us 1200.com members worried .....But that is very good news dude!! Give it hell on the strip now

Ye of little faith.. takes more than twin turbos to kill the Aseries ...as long as there is oil they "keep on keeping"

I too thought that this had happened to you before. Quite recently too, if memory serves. I seem to recall it resulted from an over rev during a missed shift.

If you clean the threads in both the bolts & the holes till they are sterile, then follow the loctite directions to the letter, & overtorque the flywheel bolts by about 5% you will help to keep those bolts in place.

Chris, the Boss at the local service station, overcame the problem after losing a couple of flywheels, with a custom made harmonic balancer, [see my photo album] & i will be using one on my coupe's engine. I believe that they also improve the level of smoothness in the running engine. At my age, i'm all for engines that run smooooooth while still delivering the goods.

good news - about time something went your way!

don't take it on a cruise - drive it nice and gently straight to a dyno or drag strip!!! I'm sure I'm not the only one that's interested to see some numbers...

Make sure you put loctite on the bolt head surface as well as the thread as well as torquing to 65ftlbs (60ftlbs is factory). That will keep them in.
Also what grade loctite are u using...they arent all the same.... Some are soft some more brittle depending on the torque load you require the bolts to hold down.

As this has been a recurring problem I would have a good look at the crank thread condition. If all appears normal then dowel the crank and take the torsional load of the bolts. This is what kills the A series flywheels more than anything.
The bolts have a small PCD so this makes the problem worse. The last A12 hottie I just finished building had the crank triple dowelled so the dowel weights were evenly spaced for balancing.

By all means use 601 (shaft fit) Loctite and the primer T (3 Bond etc). Dowels are most important.
