Ok guys and gals throw out some ideas: As my son who is about to be 13 is likely to end up with my 2.0 Protege in 3 years as his daily driver (actually he will be driving sooner as he's been Karting for a few years so we'll be out on dirt roads) I figure now is the time to start looking for my daily driver.

Here are the requirements;

Must seat 3 , have AC , must not be to boomy inside and get 25 mpg around town

So my thoughts are:

200SX....fuel injected and RWD

or

Datsun 210.........uses A series and I have a ton of parts

or

I could pry open my wallet and buy that $2000 59 Datsun put in AC , modern engine , brakes and genrally build a Datsun Rod.

or?????

I dont dare say it but by the time he is old enough to legally drive the 200SX will be slighty older and parts would be cheaper and easier to get than any of the other options you have listed.

If money wasnt an option I would say go for rebuilding one of the datto's but dont forget how hard it can be now to get parts for these olders cars.

Thats just my thoughts on the subject.

Your reasons are why I listed the 200SX. Two years ago I was driving a Volvo 140E and frankly the little things like fuel injection relays made me a little crazy..........my street bike was forced into use more than once.

So one vote 200SX.

I've done about 25 laps in my buddies Sentra SE-R around our local track........good fun but I was looking for a return to rear drive.

CRX is just fine and a racer buddy has one I could grab dirt cheap but only a 2 seater.

OK so we have 200SX or Sentra.

My vote is for a 210. A good candidate for a daily driver and you can't go wrong with spare parts already on hand.

I'm going to vote the 210.......

You can teach the young bloke a thing or two about mechanical fundamentals on a car / engine he can work on with a basic toolbox.

Always room for an upgrade later on.

210. always room for a modern engine drop in. (i.e. ka, sr or such). I saw one at the shasta meet last year, ka equipped. It was sweet. If I did'nt have 2 12lvers I would get one for a dd.
