I think i used a 1200 or some other starter in the ratwagon... What a pain in the ass to fit! Must be a touch bigger then a thou one! only on a specific angle and holding your tounge the right way would it fit in... and its stuffed too! Might take it out when i do the box.

Yes,i think the 1200 is a bit fatter in the body and get's caught up in the drag link trying from the bottom, and is just as bad from the top,but it can be done i'm sure.

I'm pretty sure that the 1200 starter is the same size as the 1000 one, but it has four brushes inside instead of the 1000's two.
I remember that I converted my original 1000 starter by adding the two extra brushes as the end plate was made to take them, they were simply never fitted to any 1000 starter that I dismantled.

Yes, the starter is difficult to change, but with the benefit of experience, I learned which way to twist & turn to get it out & back in agan without resorting to more than a dozen or so swear words, & I was dealing with a 1200 engine & trans in a B10 chassis.

The original 1200 starter (Hitachi) also had two brushes. They tended to be less powerful (spin the engine slower) and once worn after some years to not work too well. The four-brush units (Hitachi, Mitsubishi, Bosch) are much better.

Btw, same part number for B10 and B110 starters: 23300-18015 late B10, early B110.
