hey guys, Alright, since you wont let me hack up my car to fit the L20b, how about a CA18DET? My friend reckons they are close to the same size as an A-series (length ways). Will i have to chop up any bodywork if i try and put one in? Any help appreciated, thanks -Jesse PS. Just got my new bucket seats in, yay me =)

If you do a seach down the previous threads we've talked about this many times. But here it is in short. 1. Must have Automatic Transmission tunnel, otherwise there's a lot of work there. 2. Will need to remove Battery bracket to fit smaller battery, or move it to the boot. 3. Will need a different radiator, maybe modifying the front panel. 4. Will need to fabricate firewall mountings for a hydraulic clutch. 5. Modified tailshaft. 6. Depending on gearbox selection, will need to move handbrake lever. 7. The obvious wiring mods. 8. Front intercooler--More front panel mods. 9. At least 3 cartons of beer to relax after a few weeks hard work :) You'll need a mig welder, angle grinder, plenty of flat metal plate, some creativity and patience. Oh yeah, and beer.

Dattodude is right, without beer where would we be? U have to decide whether or not u care about cutting the car up or not. if its a manual like mine then pretty much every late model nissan engine will have a gearbox which wont fit. I know that if ur like me u wanna go fast, but ur gonna have to compromise. Spend the money on a ca18, etc. and perform major surgery in that conversion, or spend the same money on a A14/15 which will leave ur car in 'original nick' chassis wise. with all the money saved on the ca18 conversion, u could have yourself a very quick A series, which can be quick enough to waste nearly everything on the steet. Although not as quick as the ca18 could ever be, u will not have to have an engineers report, i dont think, and u wont have to go crazy on the brakes since the balance and weight of the car is still reasonable. By the way which part of adelaide r u in???

yeh, i think an A15 is the way to go.... there are about 50 people that are gonna eat my nads for breakfast if i start hacking up my car. Also, i dont want to kill myself and write off the datto, so i think a CA18DET is out of the question =) Alright, so A15's came in vanette's right? what else? I'll cruise down to the wreckers tomorrow, see if i can get one cheap. I live in prospect, just north of the city. Whereabouts are you? should get together, have a datto cruise or sumthin. Too bad there isnt any datto 1200 clubs around... Oh well, gimme a call if you live nearby. 8269 3051. Thanks -Jesse

a cruise would be good man, but maybe one day when shes goin a little better. still feels like the old a12 with a little more torque. i gotta get some finances together before any of that can happen. i put the 120y sway bar on friday afternoon. piece of piss. handling feels tighter, less wobbly through corners. its a good buy for $16 or so. ill get in contact, i am in the western suburbs. maybe i need some fanta injection ,alla chris lott, to stop my 'pinking' as well?? and regarding the A15, i know some prices from places nearby.
