It's probably been talked about before but I am thinking about upgrading the carb on my A15 from a single weber 32/36 DGV to twin carbies of some sort.

Pros/Cons? What do you guys recommend I buy for an A15 ute for street and occasional track use? What carbs are good bang for their buck? Better option than single sidedraught? Cheers.

I put twin 40's on a stock A15 and the difference was pretty impressive, I was very surprised. The only other upgrades was an electronic dizzie and exhaust system.

If you need twins let me know.

twins are good for top end power increase which is good for the track

i would run the GX style SU's myself especially if its driven on the road, and i do on my rally car

the weber/dellorto combo is great for top end power but robs the rest of the rev range badly, and they require frequent tuning and maintenance to keep them in good order

most people will disagree, but i ask them to come watch a rally with me one day and it's very easy to point out the downside there

+1 to twin SU setup. not an A15, but my L16 pulls considerably more powerful, while retains the fuel economy.

there's SFA difference in performance between twin SU and a 32/36 weber. And you'll be limited to about a 32/72 cam.

if you want a performance upgrade from the 32/36, its twin 40s. where and how they make power is up to how they're setup. leave the small chokes in there and it won't rob mid range power. Twin 40mm dellortos can stil be found for reasonable money. lol at anyone with SU's complaining about Webers being high maintenance. keeping oil in the Su pistons is a never-ending job.

well in that case maybe you want to buy my twin 40 setup off me

Good News:
they are in great condition as they were rebuilt and tuned 6mnths before i took them off the car (which realistically means i probably drove it in only 3 rallys... less than 600kms of use)

Bad News:
they caught fire and melted some of their parts and filled themselves with burnt air filter... because they were running so poorly

oil in SU's is like oil in the motor, check the dipstick every now and them and top them up if neccesary

Haha I'm not sure how some carbs that have been on fire can be in great condition! But I'd be keen on them if the fire has meant they need to be repaired?

Twin carbs a good choice? Yes
