You got it. Not locked in position as was the other side.

It had moved down over an inch, and the spring was no longer fully captive at full drop, but thankfully still in the seats. They are really short springs.

Not technically height adjustable but spring preload adjustable. Height ajustability allows for overall strut length variation. Lucky you found it, as it may have made for an unwanted situation on the road.

Oh that could have ended in all kinds of wrongness. I wouldn't say don't trust a Japan import id say don't trust any 2 ND hand car for anything. Always double check.

Could be me could be lack of sleep but I noticed the locking collar has the curved/taper facing side up.............shouldn't it be flat against flat??? Less mating surface possibly lead to it backing off??
