Looking for the air pump mounting bracket for my '79 b310 (US) . I can't pass the emissions 'equipment inspection' without it (in lovely Denver, CO). I have the rest of the emission control equipment, but can't mount the air pump.

Anyone have a lead?

They are difficult to find in California. In other states they are easy to find in wrecking yards because no one wants them.

Do you have a B210? Because a 1979 model (US) is a "210" model series B310. Your underhood chassis ID plate will tell you for sure.

Does your mounting bracket look like this one?

Erp, you are correct. '79 b310, model 210. Honestly, not sure what the bracket itself looks like. I've not seen it personally and can't seem to find any pics or references to anything but the pump itself. That very well could be it?

EDIT: Here's a pic I found of the engine from my model with the pump bracket slightly visible. Unfortunately this is the best I have for identifying the part.

OK that is the "idler pulley bracket". Be sure to get it with the pulley attached because there are three different ones.

Nissan wants $70 for the parts, but it will probably take weeks on order from Japan. Or maybe they'll have one in three days.

Use the national hot line to find the part at a traditional wrecker. They will ship it mail order. There are 15 or so wrecking yards selling the air pump, so maybe one of them pulled the bracket with it. Phone numbers are listed. http://car-part.com

Or self-service yards. Currently there are 210s in wrecking yards in Washington, Oregon, Utah, Nevada, and one in California. But they are self-serve, so unless you can go an look they won't look for the part by phone (won't tell you if that part is still there). The one in California may be gone by now since they tend to keep cars only a few weeks.

I've called all the places on the list with air pumps on car-part.com . No luck there. There's a complete engine in Colorado Springs (about 60 miles south of me) but they won't tell me if anything is attached. There's an 'idler arm' in NE (incidentally the same place where I got the air pump from) on car-part.com. Is that the right part?

I would post on Ratsun.net and ask if anyone who lives close to Pullapart will look out for one for you. Or if you need it sooner call Younker Nissan or another vintage-friendly Nissan dealer.

This is an idler arm. It's part of the steering linkage:

I think that may not be it. I found reference in the 79 shop manual to the idler pulley bracket and the air pump bracket. Not sure if I put the emissions stuff back on if I'd need the idler pulley, but I think its the air pump bracket that is definitely needed. It looks like there 2 complete (more or less) 210s at a yard in Salt Lake City. I'm going there in 3 weeks with my band, may have to wait till then to give it a try.

There are two brackets for the air pump:

1. Upper bracket (circle in your photo above) with Idler Pulley & adjusting screw
2. Lower bracket (in first photo)

The upper bracket differs A12 vs A14/A15.

Unfortunately I don't have any good photos of those parts.

Do you know if the upper and lower brackets are both necessary for the pump attaching or just the lower?
