I'm currently doing the front strut conversion on my 1200 ute and I've bought a full kit and camber tops from techno toy tuning. What I would like to know is what struts (body length) you guys have used ? My set up is a ca18 conversion with 14' wheels ... But will be going to 15' wheels in the future !

The guy from techno toy tuning suggested to used the rear strut inserts from a MR2 MK1 but when I was speaking to the guy from the suspension shop today he said that the diameter of these struts are to big ! 44.4mm when I need to be looking for struts around 38mm.

I've had a look in tech wiki and ran it by the suspension guy and he said the pulsar N10 would be best option compared to the golf struts because of using the spacer and the short stroke length. He said I need to figure out the ride height and travel heigh to find the correct strut !

Does anyone have the same set as me ? And can suggest which strut would be the option for me ?

Thanks

Use the Pulsar strut inserts. Fits right in the 1200/120Y disc brake struts and let you shorten the struts for lowering 2 or 3 inches. You can fit the techno tuning camber tops and adjustable sleeves. If going to 15" wheels, go with the S13 180mm (SR20 Turbo) brakes.

RCA spacers are never needed. They help adjust the suspension towards factory specs, however lowering the car by moving the spring seat down is against factory spec ...

That reminds me, whenever you change front suspension or steering components, it needs a new wheel alignment, otherwise the steering becomes darty or unsuspecting

RCAs can be useful, even though many don't fit them they can help with bettering suspension. See our tech article: Roll Center Adjusters

N10 inserts are a good option for 45mm struts 1200/120y I use these and another part number when I build Coilovers.
Mr2 aw11 rear inserts in 51mm strut body of going stanza/200b type strut

Just fitted some MR2 inserts into 120y struts. Tight fit (as in sand off powdercoat ).They were Koni adjustables but would assume body diameters would be the same on other brand inserts

That should work. They could corrode and be impossible to remove in a few years, but I would think the strut oil added along with the inserts will prevent any corrosion

better yet if they are Koni adjustable!

I think they were Koni the ones he showed me ... The strut was 44.4mm diameter and my struts are 45mm OD ... The N10 struts are 38.1mm did you have tap them in at all ?
