I got a stock 1981 Sunny A12 I was adjusting the timing when I notice the wire on the side of the distributor was twisted so I took the distributor off and fixed the wire after installing it back car won't start anymore, its cranking but not starting. Do I have to change the starter motor? I was adjusting the idle and fast idle too thats before when I was adjusting the timing.
Also I took my old battery thinking its discharged/flat so got myself a new one but same problem engine is just cranking not starting.
Please can anyone help me....
as I dont wanna get a new starter motor if i dont have to cos it cost like $149 (super cheap auto) for a new one

From the sounds of it you won't need a new starter as your engine is cranking, meaning your starter is turning the engine, it's most likely a spark problem, did you put the whire back on the dizzy??? Also is the condensor (little clyinder on the side of thee dizzy) hooked up, as these things can sometimes go on ya. Also check all your wiring, you could have accidently pulled a wire off the coil.

Since the engine cranks, then i would not bother chasing this dead end. If it is tuned right it will start within two crank revolutions, mine always does.

I guess we got one of two possibles.

Does it make spark, & if so, is the spark showing up at the right cylinder at the right time?

Your best bet, since you have VERY limited mechanical knowledge, is to get yourself one of those aftermarket [Gregorys] service & repair manuals. These things are GREAT value & will save you their purchase price many times over. Just look up the troubleshooting section.

There is one for the 1200 on ebay right now & i think $5 might win it. It would cover your problem at least, but get one for your model if you can.

Thats the best i can do for you in this short space.

You probably don't have the distributor back in exactly right. To "time" the engine, there are several things that need to line up. Yes, when you get your book, exaine the section carefully that discusses removing and reinstalling the distributor.

I did place the distributor properly, timing is good. What I'm worried about is the wire I cut off from the distributor to take it off as I couldnt unscrew the very tight stubborn screw. Because the wire is then shorter I had to join it with a 10amp wire (thicker than original wire) I got from super cheap auto... do you think this might have cause the problem as different wire? If this is the problem I dont know which wire should I use...

The 10 amp wire wont cause a problem.
Basically (correct me if im wrong) this wire on the back of the dizzy is the main power feed for the points.
Its a 12 volt power feed going through the ceramic resistor and throught the coil.
One way to test this is to check there is a voltage at the end of this wire.
Use a multimeter... or even shove a screwdriver in the end of it and earth it against the motor....
No Spark - Problem - trace the wire back until you get a spark.
Spark - check condensor and points.
failing that, take it to an auto electrician and see if you can give you some advice for free.
