Mat,your right!! Just to think-I was mad at my insurance agent for quoting my 16 year-old son at $95.00/month for his 1970 521!!! I would DIE if I had to payAustralian prices for insurance!!!! Then,to pour salt in the wound----You cannot just install whatever engine you want-and drive??(In some instances, maybe this would be a good idea,as I"ve seen some real-insane engine swaps here in the states-like a small-block chevy into a MG MIDGET-street driven on a daily basis-that was nuts!!) Tom S. P.S. If my son wanted,he could do a V-8 conversion, and his insurance would stay the same-Ironic,but true!!

Holy smokes! Some of you Aussies have it bad with restrictive motor swap regulations and gross insurance inflations.

I wonder
storyteller was the 3rd parragraph in your pity me story refering to me?

If you can't see the difference in your reply to Mattymac's thread on wrx engine
and Kegs's reply to Mattymac's thread on best performance engine then maybe you need to go back and continue reading your text books so you can come up with a technical relpy so you can continue to sound like Mr Smartman

If you still don't understand why I gave my response to you, then I suggest you go back and continue to read the wrx engine thread till it all sinks in. All my reasons are there plain to see for everybody to read.

(shit grow up and act your age)

This just cracks me up
A post comes up with the question "Does anyone think it would be possible to put a WRX 2.0 engine in a Doto ute [sic]

I reply with a smart arse answer that was an obvious throwaway line, saying that it CAN be put into a 1200 ute, by placing it in the back, just pack it so it doesn't slide around.
I responded to the question that was actually asked. [in a smart allec way]

This brings a ton of abuse from a person with a plump man Avitar, & if he takes issue with me, then thats his right, but to go & support the author of another throwaway line,...to the hilt,..smacks of two faced hipocracy. Worse, poor Mattymac, the center of all this, gets abused by him. There seems to be a loyalty chrisis here. Support one day, abuse on another day.
I suspect that it was not the issue that he objected to, but the person [me] Why? Beats me, but that too is his perogative. Should i sue? Well i almost hurt myself when i fell off the chair laughing.

Chris

Mattymac
Please don't take the smartarse posts too seriously, unless of course they become habitual.
Most of us mean no harm by them & are all too willing to pitch in & help where we can.
If i have offended you, just e-mail me & i will appologise by return, or in person by phone if you wish.
Chris

Yep Dattodude is right the CA18DET conversion has been flogged like a dead horse, please use the search bar - there would hardly be a question that hasn't been answered.

My original plans were for this conversion, the budget was there, it was planned, everything was ready to go and the only thing that stopped me was the fact that I had to deal interstate which involved freighting a half cut(very Expensive)
but the main factor was that not one of all these so called reputable companies who sell them gave 2 ####s about something called "Customer Service"
Dreams and Goals are 2 separate things. Be realistic about what you want and how much you want it.
Thats why I'll stick with the trusty ol A15 for the time being.
Remember to that a budget is exactly that you will ALWAYS spend more than you prepared to because things just pop up
but you get that..........

The CA18DET transplant cost has been discussed to death. Please get familiar with the "Search" bar on the left hand side.

To buy a ute/coupe/sedan with a CA18, look at $3000 for a rust bucket, up to $20000 for a show car. Doing it yourself can cost $4000 if you are a fanatastic fabricator with access to plenty of tools. If you get someone else to do it, expect $8000 to $30000 for the job.

Dreams are great. But make sure you are not just teasing yourself. You sound pretty young, so also look at the REAL costs involved with owning a CA powered 1200. Can you afford the $1000-$3000 per year insurance?

Cheers,
Chris
