chuck, let us know what you find out.

Checking the accelerator pump is a great idea, like Niscoupe said.

I would be more suspicous of the accelerator pump. Check to see that there is a jet of fuel being pumped into the carb when you open the throttle.

vacuum leak is the most likely cause.

Did it "cough" before the rebuild, or only since?

yes, standard piece of crap carb fully rebuilt 2 months ago, apart from that it is bog standard.
selling to my brother in 2 weeks as im heading overseas and im trying to get it runnin mint and with as little mods as possible as he has no mech know how.
standard = easy listings and parts.
I am going to get my mech to have a look at it when my new gearbox is in but was seeing if i can self diagnose before as it can be friggin annoying.
yes fellow biker, but its in the shop for sale due to overseas trip, thinking duke next, just too expensive for little performance.

Hi Chuck,
Could be a few things we might need some more info but we'll sort you out

What is the idle like while you are sitting at the lights?
Is it standard Hitachi Carb?
Have you done anything to it at all recently under the bonnet (I always like to ask that just in case)
What is it like to start?

It could well be anything at this stage / maybe some crap in the carby, or points, incorrectly adjusted accelerator pump - still just guessing a bit at this stage - need a little more info please

morning fellow datto ppl's
my trusty little sunny has recently developed what i can describe as a cough or two when i go to take off from a set of lights or stop sign, ie from standstill.
once it coughs once or twice she moves off as smooth as silk, any suggestions as to why?
chuck.
p.s. replaced gearbox being replaced again, originla was faulty, what a pain in the arse. but no cost :)
