Hey 1200rc,

Thankyou!!

This definately makes sense - great yes mine has oval inlet ports and no water ways.

Thanks very much!

also as an added thing i found that with the a-15 inlet manifold from a vanette, the inlet runners actually raise slightly just after the head side of the manifold, i found his good for my turbo setup as i was able to cut off the water galleries from the bottom of the manifold to make a little extra clearnace, exatly enough for what i needed at the time

no-one will probably ever need that info but i thought i should share anyway while i was posting the above

the confusion is between exhaust and inlet

the EXHAUST is identical on ALL a12-15

the INLET varies, there is round and oval port, there is single stud between ports and then theres studs on the outside of ports

basically round ports use a single stud for 1+2 cyl between inlet ports and between 3+4 (2 studs total on top of inlet)

oval ports have a stud outside of both 1+2, and then also outside of both 3+4 (4 studs total on top of inlet)

a-12 is round port
a12gx is oval port
a14 can have both round and oval
a14gx is oval
a15 is oval

and then theres water ways
a-12 dont have em
a-12 gx do
a14 dont
a15 dont, except for a-15's from vanettes do (remember this to get manifold gasket for a-12gx)

edit [there could be slight exceptions, maybe on sunny (b310) motors or something, which im sure others will arise, but this is the info i have found from the work i have done]

OK now i'm ConFuSED?

Some people are saying now that the bolt patterns are the same?

i.e A12 is exactly the same as A14, i think they are totally different?
Who can DEFINATELY verify this?

Secondly will an A12 Exausht manifold bolt onto the A14 Head and i would like to use the A14 intake manifold.

I also thought that A14 did have a heatbox?

Any help is much apprecited - Thanks heaps so far!

Oh and thanks Datsunblue and Quinn for the info GREAT STUFF

Cheers

Hey Dattopower, don't know if this will be helpful or not. Would a 140J have the exhaust manifold you need? Try Pick-a-part in Avondale! I got the carpet out of the one they had there some weeks back.
I had to get an exhaust manifold for my 120Y in time for it's WOF last month. I got one through Eden Park Car Spares in Sandringham. $45. You could try there if you have no luck.

My-spacebar-is-broken
I-have-used-an-a12-exaust-manifold-on-an-a14/15-
you-will-have-to-put-a-blanking-off-plate-over-where-the-a12-manifold-has-its-hotbox.-
(the-a14/15 has-water-heating-instead)

ps-having-no-spacebar-totally-SUCKS-ARSE

he is talking about the EXHAUST manifold, im pretty sure those 2 replies were talking about the INLET, the exhaust should be the same, just be careful the base of the inlet manifold doesnt foul on the exhaust as happend to a mate of mines (caused air leak on inlet, between head and manifold) we just had to file the inlet manifold slightly so the two manifolds didnt touch

i would think your exhaust would still be ok if it is only rusted on the outside, inside is usually not, usual full of carbon

but on the outside they all are, so unless it looks like its gonna fall apart i wouldnt be too concerned with reusing it, thats unless you want it too look good too

edit: the port sizes are the same and in the same location (square shaped) and the bolt patterns are the same, thats why i think only fouling with the inlet manifold could be a problem
