the sunny 4 spd crossmember has to have the bolt holes moved a little but it can be done with a file just get a big washer to stop any movement.

The 5 speed in my 1000 is from a 120Y & it went straight in. I even used the 1000 gearbox crossmember. I don't remember which gearbox mount i used, but it's probably a 1000 unit too.

i'm in greystanes,& i can't guarantee the crossmember will be the same, because sunny's all seem to have the same width tunnel. I don't think 120y's do,BUT i think i have a 120y gearbox crossmember here in the shed, not the storage unit, where i'd never find it.does the 120y box have a crossmember?another thing that just occurred to me is the clutch forks are different, plus the throwout bearing housing could be longer.unless it's a a12 5 speed with a 1:1 5th.hopefully the 120y box will have all this attached,so it wont be a drama.i do have the stock clutch fork & throwout bearing housing still on this other 4 speed, but the box itself is pretty worn.there was more gearbox oil on the underside of the car than in the box.was a bit whiny.

Thanks Paul - I'm in Baulkham Hills. So the Sunny cross member will bolt up to the 120Y? How far away are you?

yes, they're the same length, yes, the tailshaft will fit the output shaft, but you'll probably have to dig up a gearbox crossmember to suit the 120y,because the mounts on the box are in different places on the rear housing.good luck.which side of the tasman are you doing this, cause i took a sunny 4 speed out over the weekend,& you could have it's crossmember if needed.i'm in sydney.

Hi all - I'm after some advice re: the Aussie 120Y. I'm removing a 5 speed from one on friday night and replacing it wth a standard 4 speed. I have a couple of questions - I don't have the car with me yet so just trying to do some research before then.
1. Is the 5 speed the same length as the 4 speed?
2. Will the 5 speed drive shaft fit the 4 speed box?
3. Anything else worth noting?

Cheers,
Ian.
