If I go through the trouble of importing a car it will be a 1200 ute!!! Any chance you could ship me a ute shell? A shell is all I need (with gate and lights of course). I have everything else.

Hy. Well, I spent a lot of time in South America, where the Datsun Stanza, or Nissan Stanza, was known, alaround, as a tough car. In US it was the 510, correct, but my memory of that car takes me down to my days in S.A. In South America, 710(160J), was the most known Datsun, at that time, 510 Datsuns where not common(talking about south south america, Chile, Peru, Argentina, Brasil), in fact, the racing king in ther was not the 510, but the 160J and 180J, both where the equivalent of the 710 Datsun in US, but with 1600, 1800 and 2000 motors. 10's and twenties, you might be suprised how cheap it is to get a shipping container from NZ to the US.... It's no enormous hassle for me to broker the purchase on your behalf, and park it up until shipping can be arranged, it's two blocks away!

Its missing the SSS badges from the base of the front guards. It should also have a SSS badge on the right rear of the hatch. Very pretty thing though!

That car was never badged as a Stanza in the USA. It was badged as a 510 here, aka HL510.

I've been looking for one of those for about 6-7 years... All I ever find is 4drs and wagons... Wish I could bring it back to the USA!

Have just posted some pics of the series one 140J in the photo album. I am currently trying to get an import permit for a 1974 model 140J from NZ.
The Mk111 160J SSS on the auction site is the same as our stanza coupe but with twin carbs, suspension stiffness upgrade and a better trim specification.
I still have my 1978 Stanza SSS coupe (160JSSS coupe with Stanza badging) that was brought in by Nissan for evaluation.
I recently sold the mint (78,000 km's)orange coupe to a gent in Sydney.

It does look like a Stanza, The Stanza Coupe was rare in Australia, and it looked pretty special. (In a good way).
The other 160J I know of, looks like a mix between a 180B (610) and a 120Y (210).

Hy. In my book, the 160J was also known as the 710 Datsun(USA). The one in this picture is what I know as the Datsun/ Nissan Stanza. It is oK, though I was thinking more about the 710 datsun, which I like, lowered ,with nice tires/wheels, the 710 is a nice car to have, and handles well, it waas a racer back in its' day. ________________ Jaime.
