A friend of mine mounted his electric pump in the engine bay, He found when going up a steep hill the pump draw was not enough and had to move the pump closer to the tank. It was so bad he had to roll down the hill and get a run up, needless to say he changed its position as soon as possible. So it is your decision where you want to mount it, but if you do decide mount it in your engine bay then keep this in mind.

As long as the motor runs carbs the pump will be fine if its a carb pump (efi needs way higher Pressure) its the volume thats the issue with the standard lines as for the pump you have my holly is self priming and it sits about afoot above the tank and its sweet. run a mock set up and hold the pump up high and start it youll know if its working

the plan is to go to an L18 or CA18 i know the pump won't cut it for the CA18 but i'm sure it'll be fine for an L18, where can i get these from? does Enzed have them or EARLS? it self primes so do i need to put it at the same level as the tank or can it be above it? sorry for all the questions but i would like to get it right first time!

you be running at full presure (10 - 12psi depending on the pump) and you'll get what a14force said and it wont work. If the car is reasonbly stock then running the standard mech pump is fine even with a 32/36.

Do you need a pressure regulator if you have a electric fuel pump cos i just got one from a friend for free, so i was wondering, what would happen without one? i'll be running a 32/36 when i install the pump

not fatal, just that the fuel will blow past the needle and seat and she'll flood.

if too much fuel/pressure is getting in...can this be fatal...to the carbs....

the internal size of my braided will fit over the external old pipe but i cant rember the numbers. im running braided all the way and I have changed the pick up so its the same size. you might not feel it but your probably leaning off at the top end. I could notice it on the track so I changed it and its good enough to run any engine Ill ever put in it (unless i go injected then ill have to change the pump)

i have a similar regulator, maybe even the a holly i think.. run about the same psi

but i run stock lines and i havent had a problem at all, i still run the mech fuel pump and there is no wurries either

what size are the stock lines, and what size are you running?

AFRacer is right. Im running twin 40s and a holly red top and regulator the holly is self-priming so it doesnt matter where it sits. I have set the regulator at 3psi at idle and it creeps up to about 4 1/2psi (i think, ill have to check) and it runs fine. what fuel lines are you running? the standard are way to small and you'll need to replace them.
